Bring A Shovel Premier

Bring A Shovel screened to a sold out theater at ATLAS9 on July 9, 2026!!

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of screening a film for an audience for the first time. Years of work, obsessing over every detail. Countless favors asked. Money spent. Now, finally you are committing it to an audience and hoping you articulated your vision in a way that connects with people. It was gratifying that so many people were interested in this story. I couldn’t have asked for a better venue and audience. Good vibes all evening. Some of the original Harrison Street DIY builders joined me for Q&A after the screening. Ben Hlavacek, Hunter Hendrix, Kyle Crandall and Tyler Stelter. DJ Stewart lent his skills on the microphone to help moderate the discussion. Great questions and discussion! It’s a remarkable story in skateboarding and in the history of Kansas City and it was an honor to make this film. Atlas9 hosted the event. It was important to them to support the skate community, a DIY effort, and a local independent film. The facility was awesome. Beautiful theater and an opportunity to visit the Atlas9 interactive experience. Food, Drink, Arcade games. What’s not to love? Harrison Street DIY and MoKan Skates sold tons of merch and raised money for future skatepark projects. Thank you to Atlas9 and all who attended!!
